Your family’s things stay your family’s

The hearth app for iPhone and iPad · Effective October 28, 2026

The short version

  • No ads, no trackers, no third-party analytics, and we never sell data.
  • Chats, video messages, calls and trip locations are end-to-end encrypted. We can’t read them.
  • Table and Porch labels stay inside your home. Other homes are never told where they sit.
  • Your photos go only to the homes you share them with, checked each time they’re viewed.
  • We don’t train AI on anything your family shares.

Who we are

IdleFusion makes hearth. This policy covers the hearth app and this website. Questions about it go to support@idlefusion.com.

What hearth stores, and why

Your account

When you sign in with Apple, we keep the identifier Apple gives us for you, the name you use on hearth, and a token Apple provides so we can end your Apple sign-in when you delete your account. We don’t ask for a password, your phone number or your contacts.

Your home

Your home’s name, who belongs to it, and which homes it’s linked with. Each home’s Table and Porch labels are kept in that home’s own storage and are never sent to any other home.

What your family shares

Posts, photos, videos, captions, comments, hearts and voice replies, so we can show them to the homes you shared them with. Your phone removes location and camera details from photos and videos before they’re uploaded. Stories and their files are deleted 24 hours after they go up.

Events

An event’s name, dates, place, guest list, packing list, schedule and shared album, visible only to the people on that event.

Kid accounts

A kid account is created by a parent. We keep only the kid’s first name and birth month and year, so we know when they turn 13. Kids don’t give us an email or an Apple Account.

Your devices

For each signed-in device: a public key that proves it’s yours, its name, the tokens Apple uses to deliver notifications to it, and its time zone, so quiet hours and scheduled calls happen on your clock.

Reports and blocks

When you report something, we receive what you report and any note you add. We keep a record of who you’ve blocked so it keeps working.

What’s end-to-end encrypted

Chat messages, video messages, video calls, event chats and location shared during an event are encrypted on your devices with keys our servers never have. We pass them along, but we can’t read, watch or locate any of it. For an event, our servers keep only each person’s latest encrypted location, and delete it when the event ends.

Photos and videos in posts are not end-to-end encrypted yet. They’re stored encrypted on our servers, and each one is handed out only to people your home shared it with, checked every time it’s viewed.

What we never do

  • Show ads, or let anyone track you across apps and websites.
  • Sell or rent your information to anyone.
  • Use third-party analytics or ad SDKs.
  • Upload your contacts.
  • Train AI on anything your family shares.

Who else is involved

We run hearth on Cloudflare, which stores and delivers your home’s data, photos and videos, and relays calls. Apple handles Sign in with Apple and delivers notifications. Neither uses your information for anything but running hearth for you. Apple Maps answers place searches when you set an event’s place; only what you type is sent.

Keeping and deleting

  • Delete your account in Our home, then Settings, then Your data. Your posts, comments and hearts are removed everywhere, your devices are signed out, and your home stays for the people still in it.
  • Sign out a device in Settings, under Signed-in devices. Its copy of your family’s photos is erased.
  • Remove a kid account from Our home. Their posts, comments and hearts are deleted and their iPad is signed out.
  • Stories are deleted after 24 hours, and event locations when the event ends.
  • When someone moves out, they keep what they posted. When someone is remembered, their posts stay where they were shared and their account can’t be signed in to.

Children

Children under 13 use hearth only through a kid account that a parent creates and manages. Kids share with their home, and with their table only after a parent’s OK. They can’t share with the porch, invite anyone or link homes. A kid’s location is shared on an event only if a parent turns it on. A parent can remove a kid account at any time, which deletes what the kid posted.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and its effective date, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
